Haadtien Beach Resort is a boutique resort nestled on a secluded beach in Koh Tao Island. Set on Thian-Org Bay (Shark Bay), it is surrounded by palm groves and offers spacious villas with private balconies. Free wired internet is available at the public areas.

Oasis of tranquility

The location is excellent and very quiet (we were there at low season). Beautiful beach with white sand and shade where swimming is possible (a bit limited at low tide). The amenities of the resort are great, the staff is super friendly. The bungalow was well appointed. It was overall a real enjoyable experience.

A couple of things could be improved: we found the bed on the hard side (very hard actually) but when we mentioned it to the reception, the staff immediately offered to fit a topper to improve the comfort. That did the trick. We also missed a chair in the bungalow; although there is a lounging facility in front of each bungalow, it is not practical to use and if one wants to use the desk present in the bungalow, there is no place to sit except on the bed.

Very Good

The resort is beautifully and the beach is amazing. The room was very comfortable and clean.

The restaurant. The first night we ordered a appetizers and pizza Got almost 2 hours to came the appetizer (and came cold looking like was ready for a long time) and then the pizza. Next day on the breakfast they have only one coffee machine and you need wait in the queque for so long. First time in my life that I need to wait for coffee in queque and for too long. The service is very bad for a very expensive resort.

A wonderful stay: I would recommend this hotel

1. A very nice 4-stars hotel on a beautiful beach (one of the most beautiful of Koh Tao). The bungalows and common areas perfectly merge with the nature that surrounds the resort. The pools, the restaurants and the beach bar are good and clean. Gardens are nice, with their jungle style, frangipani trees and squirrels. 2. The large and private beach is lovely, with calm and turquoise waters and soft white sand. You have to swim or take the kayak to find crystal clear sea, though. Two big turtles live in the bay and you can swim with them: an amazing experience. Nice corals (among dead ones) and tropical fishes, especially on the right side of the bay (also some baby sharks). Better bringing sea shoes for corals and sea urchins, by the way. 3. Food is overall good. Breakfast is nice, with a great egg station, Thai food, tasteful Dennis croissants. Dinner is OK: try the grilled fish choosing your own fish from the BBQ station. 4. The resort offers free shuttle bus to Sairee beach and to the pier, at fixed times. Taxis on the island are easy to find, by the way. Hotel staff can also schedule basic diving (with good packed food provided) and boat trips around the island and to Koh Nang Yuan (the long tail boat leaves directly from the hotel beach). Local experiences, mind you: nothing luxurious. Koh Tao is not a Maldives atoll. Tourism here initially started for backpackers. 5. The fish Friday buffet dinner is worth the money. We also reserved the romantic dinner on the beach: an unforgettable experience for my family. Dave organized to let us take photos without the table, under the tent, with flowers, two hours before dinner. So we had the perfect setting for our anniversary photos. 6. The staff is nice. If you ask them a favour they would help (for example, the check-in for the crowded ferry boat a day before the departure or going to the village to grab you something). Of course, tipping is a good idea.

Minor issues. 1. The hotel shuts down nearly every service around 10:30 PM. They even cover the sofas. If you want some drinks you have to leave the resort. Sairee beach village is nice, by the way, with some good shops, bars and restaurants (Whitening and Charcoal grill above all). 2. The diving experience was quite shocking: nearly all the diving boats leave together from a pier in town in an incredible confusion. But the dive masters are nice and professional and the diving sites are good. If you don't run away from the pier you will be rewarded. But remember: this is an experience for young backpacking guys. 3. Some hotel improvements can be done. For example, a bigger mirror in rooms, some repairs, the coffee machine for breakfast has some issues and should be replaced 4. Waitress could be better trained: they don't take away dirty dished unless you ask them and table service at night is poor. Wine list is very limited: avoid the French wines and choose the Italian rose', instead. 5. No market or shops in the resort or in the nearby area. And you need a shuttle or a taxi to go to the villages, remember.

Wonderful place to stay

I have read some quite negative reviews about this resort and am wondering if I was in the same resort as they were. The location was sublime best beach in Ko Tao and no one told us about the snorkling right off the beach and you could see turtles and even sharks (small ones). You can’t put a price in that. Staff friendly and breakfast excellent. This place is pretty special

Dint like the service charge and tax add ons no where else we stayed charged these

Amazing place but need to refresh

1.I love to the location is the best , private beach and love the way that we can just kayaking or snorkling to see the sea turtle just from hotel 2.Staffs are very friendly and helpful 3.Breakfast not to many choices but for me nice and simple

1.The light in room not bright enough , should have more brighter light. 2.The mirror !! only have 1 and small one in shower room and the light is too orange not really see well. 3.plug socket !! should be replace as some of them look quite loose and feel dangerous 4. Bath Robe , should be provide as 4/5 stars hotel must have it. 5. Hair dryer .. too small

Very Good

The beach and the snorkeling are amazing for a resort and by far the best part of our stay.shuttle bus into town is great as it is good to get off resort..

Nothing much really...tax and service charges are a new one to me on drinks and food in Thailand ..accommodation is a little tired and could do with some upkeep...though wood buildings do suffer in the tropical climate.

The rooms were very comfortable with great air con, they were cleaned every day with clean towels, breakfast was the best breakfast we had during our 16 days in Thailand. The staff were very friendly and polite. The beach was stunning all though due to the weather a lot of plastic was on the beach which was a shame, I felt very comfortable and safe at this hotel and would highly recommend to anyone who wants a nice relaxing holiday I’m Ko Tao

The free shuttle wasn’t as frequent as we had hoped, the hotel is located right down on the beach with very un even roads up very steep hills, if you wanted to visit a restaurant at the end of the road leading to the hotel you had to pay a taxi the shuttle wouldn’t drop you there, I was surprised the staff were booking taxi’s rather then offering the free shuttle to drop you which would of been 5 minutes, the drinks were quite expensive from the bar, a virgin cocktail was double the price of a beer.

We stayed here during the very unusually bad weather over...

We stayed here during the very unusually bad weather over new year 2018 which meant the resort had significant challenges including beach debris, the need to change our beach villa to a villa further back from the beach and reduced food opting. However, even with this the staff and service was excellent. Would definitely return. The beach villas are stunningly beautiful.

all in lovely but very over-priced for the experience and could have been so much better

The hotel is situated on a beautiful beach and the rooms are considerately placed around the resort to enable nice views whilst maintaining some privacy. Beach and view are stunning (despite storm!). The Castaway villas are lovely with the outside lounge area. Very well built too. Staff are all very sweet. Massage was amazing - if very expensive for Thailand.

The hotel is lovely and has so much potential to be excellent but it felt a little lacking on the extras that would make all the difference - like better communication to guests, better quality of service in the restaurant, better furnishings in the rooms, etc. We were paying top dollar due to peak season so it stung that bit more when our expectations weren't quite met: - we were there during storm Pabuk but there was little info on the storm before, during or after - we got our info from English newspapers! - we witnessed other guests complaining about the litter on the beach - obviously from the storm - if the hotel just had some notices up for new guests it would help so the staff aren't constantly being moaned at - management? - no chairs of any kind in the room - so the only place to sit is on the bed - no shelter on the balcony from the rain - during the storm we all convened in our room but had to create a makeshift sofa out of pillows in order to have somewhere to sit - restaurant and bar shuts at 10pm - no where to go to for another drink except your room or into town - very tight on money so constantly feeling like they were trying to make more money off us - adding an extra 100THB on our ferry booking and not telling us. suggesting to our friend that if he came back one day to use the beach they'd have to charge him 100 THB despite 3 of us just spending over £3,800 on 6 nights accommodation. - not enough drinking water provided for free - 2 small bottles per room per day - not enough coffee in the room - 2 sachets per room per day - I complained about a meal of Thai laab - I'd had it 2 days previously and was delicious but the next time something was wrong and it had way too much salt in it. The waiter took it away then proudly brought it back saying they hadn't given me a new dish but had re-dressed the original one - so of course it was still too salty... too much effort to re-explain.. up.

Wonderful place!

Paradise beach, very good breakfasts and lunches, very kind and helpful staff, amazing snorkeling from the beach - colorful fishes, small (harmless) sharks and turtles.

Excellent choice for a luxury holiday

We stayed in a Castaway beach villa N210 and it was a perfect choice. The villa has a personal place on the beach, the view is just stunning. Very nice bathroom, perfect bed with a amazing view, wonderful equipped villa. Nice infinity pool in the complex. The breakfast is really great. From that place you can see the incredible sunsets. You can see even a pair of sea eagles flying around the complex.

The food in the restaurants is average, and very expensive in the same time, cocktails are not good and expensive too. The staff in diving center was not very helpful.

It is a great location.

It is a great location. Away from the main town, quite isolated. It is a stunning setting, beautiful beach and grounds. Excellent food. Most of the staff are well trained and helpful. It has a very relaxed Island feel.

Our room was a cheaper option - hideaway beach hut. It was a bit tired but clean and comfortable ! There are quite a lot of things that need addressing to make this resort a true 5star. The main restaurant is lacking in style and some of the service is not what you would expect in a five star hotel. Towels are looking very sorry for themselves ! The resort manager is not always on site and there is lack of communication between her and the other managers who are on site.

Paradise!

Paradise! everything was beautiful. the pool, the private beach (Shark bay), all is green and colorful.

The staff were not so friendly and in more than once unprofessional. it seems like they don’t really care from you (like other places in Thailand).
