Haadtien Beach Resort is a boutique resort nestled on a secluded beach in Koh Tao Island. Set on Thian-Org Bay (Shark Bay), it is surrounded by palm groves and offers spacious villas with private balconies. Free wired internet is available at the public areas.

What was the highlight of Haadtien Beach Resort

Wonderful

The beach has two residents turtles and its a must for snorkling. Boats from outside come to the beach, while if you stay here, you can have the beach for yourself.

It's a lot of money per day, though the place is amazing. The beach could have more organization among groups that come on the boats out from the hotel. A very sad event occur during our stay, when one person got lost while snorkling and got picked up uncounscious from without breathing. The hotel provided a very quick response with an ambulance entering the hotel, but again the tours entering the beach should have more staff on the water boats and surveillance in the water. Be aware of the danger while swimming without life saving vest as it can be easy to get lost from the boats or your group.

Very Good

The beach and the snorkeling are amazing for a resort and by far the best part of our stay.shuttle bus into town is great as it is good to get off resort..

Nothing much really...tax and service charges are a new one to me on drinks and food in Thailand ..accommodation is a little tired and could do with some upkeep...though wood buildings do suffer in the tropical climate.

Oasis of tranquility

The location is excellent and very quiet (we were there at low season). Beautiful beach with white sand and shade where swimming is possible (a bit limited at low tide). The amenities of the resort are great, the staff is super friendly. The bungalow was well appointed. It was overall a real enjoyable experience.

A couple of things could be improved: we found the bed on the hard side (very hard actually) but when we mentioned it to the reception, the staff immediately offered to fit a topper to improve the comfort. That did the trick. We also missed a chair in the bungalow; although there is a lounging facility in front of each bungalow, it is not practical to use and if one wants to use the desk present in the bungalow, there is no place to sit except on the bed.

The resort is beautifully and the beach is amazing. The room was very comfortable and clean.

The restaurant. The first night we ordered a appetizers and pizza Got almost 2 hours to came the appetizer (and came cold looking like was ready for a long time) and then the pizza. Next day on the breakfast they have only one coffee machine and you need wait in the queque for so long. First time in my life that I need to wait for coffee in queque and for too long. The service is very bad for a very expensive resort.

A lovely destination for a couple to relax and enjoy the scenery

So spacious and a beautiful property. Love the idea of little huts along the area

We had issues with our toilet however the staff at Haadtien were amazing at getting onto it quickly and providing efficient work

Amazing place but need to refresh

1.I love to the location is the best , private beach and love the way that we can just kayaking or snorkling to see the sea turtle just from hotel 2.Staffs are very friendly and helpful 3.Breakfast not to many choices but for me nice and simple

1.The light in room not bright enough , should have more brighter light. 2.The mirror !! only have 1 and small one in shower room and the light is too orange not really see well. 3.plug socket !! should be replace as some of them look quite loose and feel dangerous 4. Bath Robe , should be provide as 4/5 stars hotel must have it. 5. Hair dryer .. too small

Lovely location, wonderful people and food. Just needs some maintenance and updates.

The location is great - a really lovely outlook, quiet and beautiful. The staff are lovely and attentive. The breakfast was really good and the restaurant food was excellent. Loved the little beach bar and the happy hour cocktails.

The room we had was in need of renovation, and the linen and towels are very shabby. It’s a shame because it’s so close to being really good. Great aircon, smart tv, amazing little private pool and day bed, but just needs to be maintained and cleaned up. Looked like they were working on renovations on other rooms. Also we had a couple of issues during the stay and these were dealt with right away. The location and people and great food did go a long way to make up for the room’s shortcomings.

Beautiful property, Not so great room

Anyway, apart from the room, i would say that the hotel was pretty nice. The hotel was so large having 4 pools, we could experience 2 and both were magnificent. The restaurant food is amazing. We had pad thai each of our 11 days in thailand and theirs was hands down the best. The green curry wasn't good though with uncooked egg plants. Restaurant is expensive and closes early though. The beach is beautiful. The welcome drink is delicious. We really made good use of the free shuttles. When that is not available, hotel can call you taxi or you can get a boat taxi from the beach or you can find taxis online. Also, best would be to rent your own bike. The property is very beautiful and the staff were so courteous, some of the nicest we met in Thailand. Breakfast is also good. We used the free kayaks too. Corals are kind of dead. We didn't spot any fishes like other reviews suggest. Overall, good place but recommend to not book the ocean balcony room. Go for the hideaway or castaway villas. Property is secluded and amazing.

We stayed at the ocean balcony rooms and i think our experience was diminished because of this. Let's come to the design - the basin/sink is outside the washroom, inside the bedroom which is really weird. The washroom is very small. There is no hand shower/bidet in the toilet which is very uncommon in thailand. There were worms inside the room for which we needed to call staff and they helped us remove those twice. And lastly, our friends' room was so high up that they would only go to the room to sleep. Our room also needed lot of climbing to be fair. Some aspects like use of plastic bottles and having no access to refill bottles didn't match the eco vibes.

Wonderful place to stay

I have read some quite negative reviews about this resort and am wondering if I was in the same resort as they were. The location was sublime best beach in Ko Tao and no one told us about the snorkling right off the beach and you could see turtles and even sharks (small ones). You can’t put a price in that. Staff friendly and breakfast excellent. This place is pretty special

Gorgeous setting, but tired resort

Stunning beach with amazing snorkeling - worth it for the turtles alone. The room was lovely and spacious, and the bathroom clean with a good shower. The pool is gorgeous with a view of the bay and at a really nice temperature. Breakfast was good.

The room was nice but the bedding is tired and needs replacing. Our duvet cover was ripped and the pillow cases stained. The communal toilets were very dirty. Would expect better for the cost!

The location has a huge potential however the hotel need to invest more on it.

The location is amazing, crystal water surrounded by green landscape.

Room: our room was on the top floor uncomfortable to reach (hundreds of steps under the sun) without a lift. Dirty corridor floor from the first day (never cleaned up); old towels (both bed and sea). Restaurant: slow service with often dirty tables

Worth to stay

Very nice place to stay as a family or couple. Quiet place at the day and night and the beach is next to the resort. Overall is worth to visit again.

Some of the stuff aren’t smile at all or seem every difficult to ask for something.

We enjoyed the island and the activities offered.

Getting collected from the pier. Location and hotel grounds are spectacular. The pools are stunning. The proximity to great snorkelling (and turtles)! The free kayaks. The complimentary shuttle service to and from town. Special mention to Dave the manager who seemed to have a genuine interest and concern for the guests. The reception staff were also friendly and helpful

In general the rooms and premises are looking a little tatty and ready for a refurb. Our toilet required maintenance from us as it stopped working quite often. Parts of the hotel grounds were a bit like a construction site with rubble visible The linen was a bit old and tatty, with tears in the duvet covers and sheets. The towels also looked tired. Given what we paid for our stay, I feel we did not get value for money

A wonderful stay: I would recommend this hotel

1. A very nice 4-stars hotel on a beautiful beach (one of the most beautiful of Koh Tao). The bungalows and common areas perfectly merge with the nature that surrounds the resort. The pools, the restaurants and the beach bar are good and clean. Gardens are nice, with their jungle style, frangipani trees and squirrels. 2. The large and private beach is lovely, with calm and turquoise waters and soft white sand. You have to swim or take the kayak to find crystal clear sea, though. Two big turtles live in the bay and you can swim with them: an amazing experience. Nice corals (among dead ones) and tropical fishes, especially on the right side of the bay (also some baby sharks). Better bringing sea shoes for corals and sea urchins, by the way. 3. Food is overall good. Breakfast is nice, with a great egg station, Thai food, tasteful Dennis croissants. Dinner is OK: try the grilled fish choosing your own fish from the BBQ station. 4. The resort offers free shuttle bus to Sairee beach and to the pier, at fixed times. Taxis on the island are easy to find, by the way. Hotel staff can also schedule basic diving (with good packed food provided) and boat trips around the island and to Koh Nang Yuan (the long tail boat leaves directly from the hotel beach). Local experiences, mind you: nothing luxurious. Koh Tao is not a Maldives atoll. Tourism here initially started for backpackers. 5. The fish Friday buffet dinner is worth the money. We also reserved the romantic dinner on the beach: an unforgettable experience for my family. Dave organized to let us take photos without the table, under the tent, with flowers, two hours before dinner. So we had the perfect setting for our anniversary photos. 6. The staff is nice. If you ask them a favour they would help (for example, the check-in for the crowded ferry boat a day before the departure or going to the village to grab you something). Of course, tipping is a good idea.

Minor issues. 1. The hotel shuts down nearly every service around 10:30 PM. They even cover the sofas. If you want some drinks you have to leave the resort. Sairee beach village is nice, by the way, with some good shops, bars and restaurants (Whitening and Charcoal grill above all). 2. The diving experience was quite shocking: nearly all the diving boats leave together from a pier in town in an incredible confusion. But the dive masters are nice and professional and the diving sites are good. If you don't run away from the pier you will be rewarded. But remember: this is an experience for young backpacking guys. 3. Some hotel improvements can be done. For example, a bigger mirror in rooms, some repairs, the coffee machine for breakfast has some issues and should be replaced 4. Waitress could be better trained: they don't take away dirty dished unless you ask them and table service at night is poor. Wine list is very limited: avoid the French wines and choose the Italian rose', instead. 5. No market or shops in the resort or in the nearby area. And you need a shuttle or a taxi to go to the villages, remember.
